Caye Caulker

Caye Caulker, Belize – 2016. Caye Caulker is a small narrow island about 20 miles (32km) northeast of Belize City. A flight from the Belize International Airport takes about 10 minutes. The Island is divided in two by a narrow waterway known as the “Split”. The main village and tourist area is south of the Split. Caye Caulker is a small village and getting around is primarily by walking, bicycles or golf carts. There are no cars on the island. We stayed at Costa Maya Breach Hotel which has a combination of Cabanas and suites. It was a nice location and with friendly and helpful staff. There are no large scale tourist developments but lots of small locally owned hotels and restaurants which make for a very laid back and relaxing vacation. Diving, snorkelling, and sailing along with day trips to various marine parks are readily available.
